District Court
The district courts (Swedish: tingsrätt) are the courts of first instance. There are forty-eight district courts throughout Sweden, divided by geographic regions. For cases involving an arbitration issue, the district court’s role is to appoint or discharge an arbitrator, to render assistance in taking evidence and to decide a challenge of an arbitrator’s fees.
